The Legion of Mary
The Legion of Mary is a global lay apostolic association that engages members in living out their faith through service, daily prayer, and weekly meetings.
Christchurch East Parish has three praesidia of the Legion – each with its own unique focus. Our weekly gatherings centre around praying the Legion prayers including the Rosary, spiritual growth, apostolic service to the Church, and fostering a sense of active community and discipleship among our members.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Praesidium (St Anne’s Church, Woolston) meeting at 10 am on Saturday mornings.
Our Lady Queen of Heaven and Earth, Samoan Language Praesidium (St Mary’s, New Brighton) A gathering to unite in faith, and service, and to pray the Legion prayers in the Samoan language.
Our Lady Queen of Apostles Youth Praesidium (St Anne’s) is meeting on Fridays at 5:30 pm during term time. A place for youth to grow in faith, leadership, and communal prayer.
There are two ways to participate in the legion: Active or Auxiliary Membership
- Active Members attend regular meetings to pray the Legion prayers and participate in active works.
- Auxiliary Member’s support through prayer, is vital for our mission’s success.
We invite you to join us to make a tangible impact in our community and beyond through faith in action. Your presence can bring hope and light through devotion to Mother Mary as we carry out the apostolic mission of the church to proclaim the Good News to the World.
